Urban Legend Hunters gets sequel offering Double the intrigue

New AR-enhanced supernatural mystery based on a Taiwanese urban legend available for PC and mobile devices
We should all probably try to spend LESS time on our phones and social media, but if there's an exception to that advice, it's Urban Legend Hunters 2: Double, the newly released supernatural mystery sequel by Toii Games.
The first game in 2020 saw players join a new social media app dedicated to researching contemporary Taiwanese urban legends. Soon after joining, however, your phone is hacked and you find yourself suddenly able to see the supernatural through it, thrusting you into a "conspiracy about a missing person who disappeared into the otherworld." The sequel tells a whole new story about another missing person a few years later. This time it's Chris, an internet influencer with a popular channel about urban legends. Her followers suspect it's related to the legend of the doppelgänger, or "double," about a replica that not only looks exactly like its source, but also "has the same memories ... and is able to completely replace the original and lead their lives without anyone noticing," banishing the original to another dimension in the process.
As an "outsider clueless about the incident," you stumble upon a crucial clue and join a messaging app that connects you to Rain, Shou, and Hyde, who "claim to be members of Chris's channel" and ask you to join them in "getting to the bottom of both the urban legend and the mystery before it’s too late." Like its predecessor, Urban Legend Hunters 2 is navigated entirely within the framework of its simulated phone app. There you will receive text messages and fully voiced calls in between solving puzzles and searching for clues first-hand in 3D environments. To make the experience even more immersive, the game is peppered with "live-action cinematic AR cutscenes," whose pairing of real actors with virtual landscapes "combine the real and unreal to transport you to a mysterious and unsettling alternate dimension." As you progress through a story "filled with suspense and intrigue," you'll never be sure who you can trust, with multiple possible endings depending on your choices and actions throughout.
While the original Urban Legend Hunters was a mobile exclusive, Double arrives on Steam for Windows PC as well, to go with its iOS and Android counterparts on the App Store and Google Play, respectively.
