First-person 3D adventure through the subconscious coming to PC on Steam later this year
The depths of the oceans are filled with strange, wonderful, and sometimes terrifying mysteries to uncover, but that's nothing compared to the depths of the human mind, with all the fractured hopes and fears, thoughts and memories floating around in our subconscious. It's the latter players will be get the chance to delve down into, not unlike an ocean, later this year in Indoor Sunglasses' upcoming psychological mystery, Mind Diver.
Lina Kukanová and her partner Sebastian were once very much in love, but now the Slovakian couple living in Denmark are in trouble, as Lina has started to lose her memories and Sebastian has disappeared. The only clues to his whereabouts are to be found inside Lina's rapidly disintegrating mind, and the only way to reach those is through an experimental technology that allows you to project yourself into her "Mind Ocean." The deeper you dive, the more you'll discover that Lina's subconscious "hides many secrets," the most crucial and mysterious of which is a "dark tragedy" buried there that's engulfing her in guilt, which a "disturbing party" seems intent on covering up. It's up to you to search for evidence, investigate any deteriorating memories you encounter and "restore those memories to reveal the truth behind it all."
Mind Diver is a fully voiced, free-roaming first-person adventure with a unique low-poly "3D-scan style" that somewhat resembles papier-mâché, cleverly reflecting the hazy nature of the human mind (particularly one that's starting to break down). Described as a "murder mystery, where the victim is love," the game tasks you with seeking out new memories that are each "missing a key detail." The evidence required to piece things together could be anything, and solutions promise to be "logical, but not obvious." To get to the bottom of this "tragic love story" and discover where the missing Sebastian might be, you must explore Lina's Mind Ocean thoroughly and "listen to private conversations" along the way in order to "draw your own conclusions."
Originally begun as a school project that earned the team a Best Student Game nomination at IGF 2023, Mind Diver has since been updated and expanded for full commercial release, expected to launch on Steam sometime before the end of 2025 for Windows PC. To learn more about the game and follow its progress in the coming months, be sure to check out the official website for additional details.
