Supernatural comedy starring a skeptic investigator and an imp coming soon to PC on Steam

They say seeing is believing, but even that might not be enough for the most stubborn of skeptics, like the star of Match Head Studio's upcoming supernatural mystery Impirical Evidence, who finds himself improbably confronted by a reality he's spent his whole life denying.

Arthur Marley belongs to an unusual profession – that of a "Paranormal Debunker." Arthur doesn't believe in ghosts, UFOs, or any of the other crazy, irrational things his clients claim to have experienced, so he's spent the last two decades using "science, deductive logic, and a healthy dose of arrogance to prove that every ghost is just a projection and every monster is just a well-made costume." Arthur values evidence above all, and he'd become "the best at denying the impossible… until he accidentally summoned it." Suddenly Arthur's entire belief system is turned upside down when he's visited by Murray, a "chaotic, playful, electric Imp." Even then, Arthur tries his best to ignore this aberration of reason until he discovers to his horror that the two are inextricably bound together. Now Arthur is forced to "continue his investigations while dragging around a supernatural partner he refuses to believe in."

If this decidedly odd couple sounds like an opportunity for laughs, that's exactly what it is, as Impirical Evidence is a "comedy adventure that blends the inventory-based gameplay of 90s classics with a modern, [keyboard or] gamepad-friendly presentation." There are cases to solve that will require not one but both main characters, though you'll technically only control the bald and bespectacled, middle-aged Arthur. Being human, Arthur is able to "explore, collect, use items, talk and observe" in all the usual ways, but "when logic is not enough," it's time to make use of Murray's particular abilities. As an Imp who's invisible to everyone but his companion, Murray cannot directly interact with the physical world, but he can be instructed to "short-circuit lights, possess electronics and trigger mechanisms that Arthur can't use." Given the paranormal nature of their relationship, some outside-the-box thinking will be required for success, though the developers are quick to offer assurances that while solutions may seem "absurd and questionable" at first, there is "no moon logic, just lateral thinking" required.

It's too soon for a specific release date just yet, but Impirical Evidence can now be wishlisted on Steam for Windows PC. While you wait, you can check out Match Head's previous game, a short FREE adventure called They Came for More Pasta, about a race of aliens who have invaded the planet with the intent of taking over...Italian cuisine?
