Fan-made mash-up of beloved Sierra series available now for Windows, Mac and Linux

Have you ever imagined what would happen if Roger Wilco and King Graham worked together to solve a mystery? What about if that mystery took them through the worlds of the classic Sierra games you grew up with? Well, wonder no longer, because Point and Click Studios’ Sierra Quest is exactly that game… and it’s free!

This idea has its roots in a little Easter egg from the original Space Quest. While escaping the doomed spaceship Arcada, Roger Wilco discovers a button clearly marked “Do Not Touch,” so naturally, he touches it. What follows is a classic Sierra gag: his escape pod crashes into the moat of Castle Daventry, bringing his adventure to an abrupt and rather unfortunate end. But what if that funny fate wasn't the end of Roger's story, but the beginning of something much bigger? That's the premise behind Sierra Quest.

Here, after the escape pod crashes into the moat, Roger swims to shore and encounters the legendary King Graham, who promises to help the stranded space janitor find his way home. But a mysterious vision in Graham's magic mirror suggests their meeting was no accident, so together they travel through some of Sierra's most beloved worlds, solve puzzles, and encounter many legendary characters from Sierra’s vast catalog that are as unfamiliar to Roger and Graham as they are familiar to us.

Blending an original story with background artwork, animations, and music ripped directly from Sierra’s games, this is a game aimed straight at genre die-hards. Half the fun is just wandering around worlds and meeting the inhabitants of such classic series as King's Quest, Space Quest, Quest for Glory, Leisure Suit Larry, and more, with plenty of jokes and references to Sierra adventure games along the way.

Sierra Quest is not an officially licensed game, of course, which the game openly acknowledges straight off in noting it is “in no way associated with Sierra On-Line or any of its parent companies or subsidiaries.” What it is, however, is a “loving tribute to the developers, designers, artists, executives, and janitors” who worked on the games of solo Australian developer Craig Harman’s youth. And since it bears repeating, it’s absolutely free to download for Windows, Mac and Linux.
