What do a peghead, switch and potentiometers have in common? If you know the answer immediately, then Alida is a game for you. And if you're sitting there with a stunned expression on your face (rest assured, you're not alone), then get used to that feeling in Cos Russo's 2004 first-person Myst-style brain-buster.

After shining the spotlight on Aaron Gwynaire's long-anticipated Neyyah, Adventure Game Geek bravely decided to tackle one of the early inspirations for that game in his latest video review. And by "bravely tackle" we mean "brazenly cheat his way through" with help from a walkthrough from Mystery Manor.

Not that we're casting judgment, because this game is HARD. Alida is named after the remote island shaped like a 324-meter guitar, which is actually fully functional! But long since deserted, 15 years after the famous musical band that created it split up and went their separate ways. That is, until one of the band members returned before suddenly disappearing.

As the player, it's your job to point-and-click your way around Alida, solving head-scratching puzzles (complete with a little agonizing pixel hunting) and listening for exotic bird calls in order to open up the island's mysterious vaults. Fail at your task and you get the "bad ending," but stick with it and... well, watch to find out!
