Environmental horror puzzler starring a blind girl and her teddy bear coming to consoles, flatscreen PC and VR devices May 22nd

Evading would-be captors in an unfamiliar setting would be difficult under the best of circumstances, but imagine being a child and having to do so blind. Fortunately, and uniquely, you'll be able to rely on the eyes of your teddy bear to help you in The Gang's upcoming atmospheric environmental puzzler, Out of Sight.

Sophie is a young blind girl who is "trapped in a decaying mansion where shadows move when backs are turned and the walls whisper secrets best left buried." She's being held there by a wicked woman and her servant in preparation for something called "the ritual." Frightened but not entirely alone, Sophie seizes the chance to escape when she realizes that her stuffed bear Teddy can see! Together the two must move quietly, carefully through the mansion, overcoming a series of increasingly challenging environmental obstacles in their way. As you progress through the creepy old manor, from "cobwebbed attics to flooded basements," you'll also begin to "unravel its tragic past and uncover the events that turned it into a place of nightmares." But it won't be easy; as if being blind weren't challenging enough, in this place "the line between reality and illusion is razor-thin, and your senses may betray you."

Originally announced as Unseen before being rebranded, Out of Sight is both a first- and third-person (or rather  technically all second-person) psychological horror adventure inspired by the likes of Little Nightmares. With no ability to fight, run, or even jump at will, Sophie is largely helpless in confronting the obstacles and dangers she faces. She can, however, move around and grab things to push, pull, and hoist herself up at predetermined places in the environment. Just one problem: Sophie can't see! But Teddy can, so in between carrying Teddy through hallways, crawlspaces and other linear routes, Sophie will need to find strategic spots each time they arrive in a room to put him down, freeing her hands to perform the actions needed to open a way forward. Teddy has limited range of vision, however, so your options are much more limited than in most games at any given time. It's an ongoing escort mission of sorts, in which the clever "dual-perspective puzzle design" allows you to be both watcher and doer, protector and escortee at times, forming a strong "emotional bond in the face of fear" along the way.

The release of Out of Sight is now very much in sight, as the game is due to launch on PC (Steam, Epic) on May 22nd, along with console versions for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch. And for those with VR headsets, a separate version will be arriving the same day for Steam VR, with Meta Quest 3 and PlayStation VR2 still to follow later this year.
