  1. Myst is still Myst, but fully 3d now and much less clunky than the realMyst releases . It's clearly a beautiful game, although there are a few points where the original looks better: there are fewer trees on the island, there's this pinkish haze I'm seeing, and then there's this over-bright ambience which makes parts of Channelwood look gray and foggy with no shadows or contrast. But there are things in this game which look stunning, especially the Stoneship and Selenitic ages. The puzzles are just as good as the original. I only find the "dumbing down" of the doors to help VR players get through entrances by sliding instead of using handles annoying, and anyone who's played the original and non-3d masterpiece edtition will feel this. I would love to have seen some different weather, besides the day-night cycle. [SPOILER] In the end of Myst V we can return to a dilapidated Myst island. Some more rain and storm clouds similar to that would have looked great here too. My biggest gripe with this incarnation of Myst is the books. The animations are atrocious, which is especially bad given books are a focus of the series. You pick up a book and suddenly it snaps to looking down the middle then opens up. It would have been much nicer to turn the pages more gracefully like the books in Myst IV or Skyrim for example. People have complained about the character models and I agree they don't look great, but it turns out they can be modded with the original FMVs which I appreciated. This game is a MUST PLAY for anyone who loves their puzzle adventures, without a doubt.
